Biden Escalates Aggression in Syria

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Since the early 1970s, Biden supported every US war of aggression against invented enemies.

In March 2011, the Obama/Biden regime launched preemptive war on Syria, its government falsely blamed for what's gone on for the past 10 years with no prospect of ending the nation's long nightmare.

Pentagon forces illegally occupy northern and southern parts of the country.

Along with stealing Syrian resources, they're supporting ISIS, al Nusra and likeminded terrorist groups, using them as proxies for endless war on the country and its people.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Pentagon (and CIA) intend redeploying ISIS jihadists from northern Syria to their al-Tanf base in the country's south near the border with Jordan -- on the phony pretext of combatting terrorism.

Days earlier, Iranian Judiciary chief Ebrahim Raeisi slammed what's going on and US responsibility for endless war in Syria, saying:

"While Iraq, Syria, Iran and regional countries are working together to eliminate the remnants of Daesh  (ISIS), the Americans do nothing but relocate the Daesh terrorists in the region."

Iranian military advisors are aiding Damascus combat the scourge of US aggression and its jihadist proxies.

Tehran also provides humanitarian aid to long-suffering Syrians, its new UN envoy Bassam Sabbagh explained, adding:

"Any report or briefing submitted to the Security Council (by the US and/or its imperial partners) will be erroneous and misleading (by) turn(ing) a blind eye to the crimes being perpetrated by terror groups in Syria" they support.

During Thursday's Security Council session, Russia's UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia explained the following:

The West is indifferent toward long-suffering Syrians. Their ruling authorities support terrorists instead of combatting them.

Terrorist-infested Idlib province is a festering sore.

It has "the largest in Syria share of starving people."

The US, its imperial partners and terrorist proxies prevent humanitarian aid from reaching them.

What enters the province goes to them. They "feed off extortion money and smuggle returns."

Trapped Syrians in Idlib "have to get by with crumbs from the plunderers' table, having no opportunity to make a living by themselves and ensure at least remotely decent future for their children."

Nebenzia expressed great concern about illegal US occupation of Syrian territory, theft of its oil, and harm done to its people.

On the phony pretext of retaliating against rocket strikes on US bases and Baghdad's Green Zone in Iraq -- what Syria and Iran had nothing to do with -- the Biden regime terror-bombed targets in the Syrian Arab Republic on Thursday.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby tried justifying what's unjustifiable, saying:

US forces struck "infrastructure utilized by Iranian-backed militant groups in eastern Syria (sic)."

"These strikes were authorized (sic) in response to recent attacks against American and coalition personnel in Iraq, and to ongoing threats to those personnel (sic)."

So-called authorization is never permitted for naked aggression.

US preemptive wars against invented enemies flagrantly breach the UN Charter and other international laws.

Since taking office on January 20, Biden continued endless US wars by hot and other means at home and abroad.

Escalating aggression in Syria was likely prelude for more to come in the country and elsewhere.

Whenever US terror-bombing is ordered, civilians are massacred.

So-called collateral damage is code language for mass slaughter and destruction.

According to Sputnik News, the Biden regime, its Western partners, along with their ISIS and other terrorist group proxies, agreed to escalate terrorist attacks in war ravaged Syria.

They intend to "intensify attacks on Syrian government forces and Russian military bases in Syria," adding:

"Christian churches, mosques and places of worship for different sects have been included in the list of targets."

"Within the framework of the agreements reached on coordinating actions, terrorist groups should be provided with funding, technologies, ammunition and modern weapons systems."

The above is how the scourge of US imperialism operates in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen and elsewhere -- an endless war on humanity in cahoots with NATO, Israel and regional partners.

According to the Middle East Eye (MEE), Pentagon terror-bombing of Syrian targets on Syria caused multiple deaths.

US war secretary Austin said he recommended the terror-bombing strike to Biden.

Citing an anonymous Biden regime official, WaPo said "a cluster of buildings (struck) killed up to a handful of people (sic)."

Incidents like the above signal more of the same to come.

Endless US aggression continues in Syria and elsewhere with no prospect for ending it.

If what Washington spends for wars on humanity were used for domestic social justice and cooperative relations with other countries, America would be paradise and peace would triumph over a permanent state of war.

Instead, endless wars rage at home and abroad.

Peace, cooperative relations with other countries, democratic governance, and social justice are nonstarters.

Instead of a nation safe and fit to live in, the US increasingly resembles Dante's hell for the vast majority of its people.

A Final Comment

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova slammed Biden regime terror-bombing of Syria on Thursday, saying:

"We strongly condemn such actions. We call for the unconditional respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria."

Remarks like the above when made fall on deaf ears in Washington, other Western capitals and Tel Aviv.
