Letter right back to Jan Brewer;

Madame,

While your purported letter seems to make a rare call for common sense in a troubled time, your issue of undocumented aliens smack of racism to the extent that it might be seen as targeting those of Mestizo descent.

The fact is the the most economically, socially and morally destructive force of immigrants threatening Arizona is Californians.

Every day, thousands of undocumented Californians invade our once free state, over-run our town counsels and remake us into what they most dread: a socialist nanny state over-run by hooligans that they themselves have promoted and inspired here.

Lack of money is not our problem in Arizona, it never has been. Lack of enginuity and common sense has never been our problem either. These are all imported problems.

It's time we re-impose the cost of the union back on the Federal government for the unfair and visible tax on freedom and fiscal responsibility these "people", so called, have wrought on our once fair and nulticultured state.

Save Arizona! Kill California!

Oh and Janet, let's not forget how all these savings you propose will allow us to throw more non-violent offenders and "victimless crime" defendants in jail and shake them down and keep the whole incarceration industry just pumping along because you KNOW for a FACT that Arizona can survive by putting it's own population behind bars. Yep, it's always been sensible in the past right? 

Let's put everybody in jail until everybody has a job. How about that you "law and order" republicans and democrats?

These inmates are the responsibility of the federal government (as is securing our border with Mexico). Arizona should not have to bear this cost. This is typical,a politician who has never read the constitution and doesn't know the law. Let me educate you, Jan: The power of immigration (according to the US constitution) isn't with the federal govt, but the states The power of NATURALIZATION is a power the constitution grants to the federal gov't. The problem is that she doesn't know the difference. The difference is that immigration is the movement of a person or people to a different location. Usually under a different govt. If I move from here (Missouri) to Arizona, then I have effectively immigrated. Remember different govts. MO and AZ have different govts and even different laws. Now the constitution does grant the power of naturalization to the fed govt. Which is to say, they have the power to dictate what hoops immigrants must jump through in order to acheive American status and citizenship. Nowhere does the contituition say that the fedgovt has the ability to physically stop someone from entering a state if the state has no problem with the immigrants. AZ would not be as nice as it is without it's immigrants, Legal or not. Hell, America wouldn't be here if it were not for immigrants. Free people should be able to cross borders of a free country freely. Once people understand that "people" outside the borders of this country are also humans, then they also may realize that we don't have an immigration problem but a welfare problem. So when Jan says something so asinine as her entire letter, basically saying that the govt doesn't take in as much as they're spending; "Federal and voter mandates prevent us from touching nearly two-thirds of the state budget", then what is she saying? "WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING, BUT YOU CAN'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!!" That's what I hear coming out of that letter ALONG WITH RACISM AT ITS FINEST. davkiz

When Symington was Gov. we were running in the black, so much so the ending of the state income tax was being considered - but he had to leave office - he was a criminal they said - perhaps so, but a competent Gov. it seems.

Following him we've had three women - and they've left us so deep in the red it's hard to tell which is blood and which ink.

If the Arizona State Government shut down today, who would suffer and what changes would come about?

Mostly, those who would suffer would be some of the poor people on Arizona "welfare." At least they would suffer until the people compassionately took up the slack locally.

Government people would have to find a job. Many politicians would have to work for a living.

Counties and municipalities would take up the slack for local needs - with the help of their residents, of course. The county sheriffs would realize what kind of a lead they were really supposed to take.

Many folks would come to understand what the Second Amendment was all about.

People would basically remain the same for a long time, because it would take some getting used to - the idea of freedom, that is.

Both state and federal military might try to step in, thinking that they had a good excuse.

But long before any of that happened, before the State failed, State Government would rob the state CAFR fund.

So, forget it. Failure ain't going to happen.
