We are so extremely good because we were created in God's image. We are so good that it takes a lot of time for us to destroy ourselves by feeling guilty. It is this goodness that gives us the ability to destroy the God-ness within us. But we go ahead and do it anyway, by making the choice to not realize subconsciously that God has forgiven us through Jesus. The New Testament explains forgiveness over and over, but rather than filling ourselves deeply on the knowledge of this forgiveness (by filling ourselves on the Bible), we go off and have fun in all kinds of unimportant ways, many of which simply increase out self-guilt feelings.
