The myType Keyboard™ has been in production for approximately 2 years. However, its origin goes back 25 years.
My initial interest in keyboards was personal – I believed that the technology existed to make a pocket computer – providing that a suitable keyboard could be made. Everything in electronics was shrinking – except for the human hand. There have been numerous devices over the years which could have served as a pocket computer, from the Apple Newton to the Palm Pilot to the latest smart phones and mini-tablets. None served as a fully usable computer because of the lack of a suitable keyboard –a keyboard on which you could touch type, but which fit comfortably in a pocket or purse. This was true until the myType Keyboard.
Keyboards were either too big to carry – or they were too small to type on. Keyboards that are displayed on a screen – so-called virtual keyboards – use up valuable screen space, and provide no “feel” required for touch typing. Thumb boards requir
