I lived in LV from 1975-1983. In those days police would not arrest anyone who threatened an officer with deadly force. He was surrounded with a large number of armed responders and executed with extreme prejudice. Once a suspect shot at an officer and escaped. A group of "responders" showed up at his condo where an unarmed man stood on the lawn dressed only in his bathrobe was shot over a hundred times. It was the wrong man. In all of these public executions the explanations were identical: "He made a furtive move." People have been shot to death for failing to acknowledge commands while j-walking. Mitchell is lucky to be alive. He took a big risk with a dangerous animal.
