That such things are cause for being "pulled over" – by body-armored and heavily armed government enforcers – says a great deal about what hasn't been the land of the free for quite some time. Whatever you may think of not "buckling up" or neglecting to turn on the headlights if it's raining – neither can be characterized as anything more than trivial statutory offenses, at most.

The real "crime" was the failure of the man pulled over to Respect the Authority of the body-armored and heavily armed goons who pulled him over. This Failure to Show Respect was entirely non-violent but it incited some ultra-violence. When he refused to exit the vehicle, one of the body-armored goons smashed out the drivers side door glass of the man's vehicle and barked at the man, exit the vehicle! and proceeded to cold cock him in the side of the head. All the while, the man can be seen doing nothing violent and wasn't pulled over for having even been suspected of doing anything violent. He failed to "buckle up" and had his headlights off (it wasn't even raining, apparently).

He didn't "resist."

He just failed to obey, which constitutes the "crime" of Failing to Show Respect – which is entirely reasonable given thugs who cold-cock people are unworthy of respect. Who are in fact the real criminals, as punching someone who hasn't so much as raised their hands against you would in any other circumstances constitute something along the lines of aggravated assault and battery, which is both a statutory crime and a moral one. Did any of the "good cops" who saw this happen arrest the cold-cocker? Not one. So much for the "good cops." If there were any justice, every last one of them would have been arrested and charged with allowing an assault and battery to occur right in front of them without any of them having done a thing to intervene or to arrest the perp.

Of course, there will be no justice – though there will likely be a settlement. Meaning, the tax cows of Jacksonville, FL will see some of their money handed over to the cold-cocked victim. Not a cent will come out of the cold-cocker's pockets nor those of the many accessories to this legalized criminality. Including the four star "general" in charge.

That is one of the underlying problems, often discussed. The lack of consequences which the body-armored thugs know they will likely never face even for egregious, on camera actions that would otherwise result in a "civilian" who did the same losing everything, including his freedom.

The other problem is that "civilians" – that's us – are subject to being treated like criminals at almost any moment on account of the fact that there are so many "offenses" on the books that empower body-armored, heavily armed government thugs to sic themselves on us. We live in a kind of fierce kindergarten, in which trivial rules – which is what all this amounts to – give license to brutal enforcement. A five-year-old who won't sit still gets sent for a time-out. A grown man who doesn't "buckle up" gets a beatdown.
