n case you missed it, Texas Gov. Rick Perry repeated his charge that Romney altered his book to tone down his support for his Massachusetts health care reform law. Romney denied the charge, and offered Perry $10,000 if he could prove his allegations.

While it's likely Romney would have won his bet, the amount of his bet is what's making news. It's about one-fifth of what the median American household takes in annually, and Romney — a millionaire many, many times over — wagered it so cavalierly.
