Area 52X Action Report

This is the longest report I have received in the several months I've been getting them from the Chairman of the North Village Neighborhood Association, David Doherty.  Being aware of the activity around my Family is important - "To be forewarned is to be forearmed".
 
If you want to really know what's happening in your neighborhood, you can click on the link, find your Precinct, look up your Community Action Officer, and ask if there is a 'Neighborhood Association' in your area.  Have them put you on the list to receive e-mails like this one I got this morning:

Subject: Arrests

 

On March 9, SAU served a search warrant to the residence in the area of 9 St. and Fillmore following a prior aggravated assault investigation involving gang members. Officers recovered gang indicia, and drug paraphernalia. Two suspects were booked for aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang, and threatening/intimidating.

 

On March 10 at approx. 5:45 pm, two suspects were arrested for aggravated assault after assaulting two victims with a knife in the area of 32 St. and Thomas Rd.

 

On March 12 at approx. 8 am, one suspect was arrested for assault and attempted kidnapping in the area of 4100 E. McDowell Rd. The suspect had prior incidents of stalking young females.

 

On March 19 at approx. 8:45 pm, officers responded to an aggravated assault/kidnapping call. The suspect held two victims hostage at a motel in the area of 36 St. and Van Buren. SAU and K9 responded, eventually taking one suspect into custody for 2 counts of agg. assault and 2 counts of kidnapping.

 

On March 17 at approx. 11 pm one suspect was arrested for DUI after colliding into an on-duty Phoenix Motor officer in the area of 41 St. and McDowell Rd. During the incident, the police motorcycle had minor damage and the officer was not injured.

 

On March 13 at approx. 10:30 am, officers were contacted in the area of 17 St. and Monroe regarding a burglary which occurred the previous evening(March 12). Officers obtained information which led them to six burglary suspects and recovered approx. $3000 in property. Over $3000 of damages resulted from the burglary also.

 

On March 14 at approx. 10 pm, officers responded to a graffiti in progress call in the area of 25 St. and Portland. Upon arrival, the air support unit observed two suspects. Officers detained and eventually arrested the suspects for tagging a wall and a vehicle in the area. The officers located evidence at the scene, as well as, video of the tagging on one of the suspects cell phones. Both suspects were booked for the incident (No information received of what was tagged on the property involved).

 

On March 17 at approx. 9:30 am officers responded to a juveniles disturbing call in the area of 49 St. and Thomas Rd. Upon the officers arrival, several juveniles ran into an apartment. All subjects were removed from the apartment. Officers cited 14 suspects for underage drinking and 11 suspects were transported to Central City Pct. for identification. During this process, one suspect was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer. The suspect was booked for the assault. Another suspect was identified from video surveillance from a Circle K store and booked for theft of beer.

 

On March 22 at approx. 10 am, Sgt. Castillas (51X) observed a suspicious subject walking in the area of 36 St. and Sheridan. The subject was carrying a TV and X-box. Upon contact, the subject dropped the property and attempted to leave the area. The suspect was detained. Officers located a residential burglary in the area. The suspect was arrested and booked for the burglary. Det. Espinoza obtained information on three other suspects involved, who left in a vehicle just prior to the suspects arrest.
