There currently is misleading information being spewed out which portrays today's release of secret FISA court ruling as a free choice by the Obama administration. Some are calling it an "unprecedented move" to release the information in face of escalating public debate.

Sure enough, this is entirely misleading. These specific FISA court opinions are only being released now by the administration because the Electronic Frontier Foundation had a legal victory against the Department of Justice. The legal victory led to a federal court order for the government to release these FISA court opinions. The deadline for the release (after government requested extensions) was today.
