Amazon likes to have its foot in many industries. From online shopping to
e-books to Kindles, Jeff Bezos's empire seems to butt its nose everywhere. Its next interest? A game console? Perhaps.
Despite the fact that Amazon sells Kindle e-readers and
Kindle Fire tablets,
it's not not really hardware company. It basically gives away its
Kindles at low-prices in the hopes of locking users into its
video/music/book services and online shopping ecosystem. Amazon doesn't
sell Kindles to make profit on the hardware, it sells at extremely low
margins to push its digital services.
