Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared indifference towards the
international community’s reaction to the censorship. “I don’t care at
all. Everyone will see how powerful the state of the Republic of Turkey
is,” stated the Prime Minister. Critics of Erdogan began releasing
leaked phone calls and documents that seem to indicate government
involvement in a corruption investigation from last December. One of the
recordings appears to be the prime minister telling his son to hide
large sums of money before a raid took place. This latest controversy
occurs ten days before local elections are set to begin.
