These Picture Frames Snap Together to Bring Instagram to Your Wall

We’re still sharing our snaps on Instagram, but there’s a new allure to holding something in your hand. The giant upside to revisiting these traditions is the chance to reinvent them.

Earlier this month LifePrint solicited funding for networked wireless printers that push our Instagram photos into meatspace, and this week Fotobit wants to make modular frames to display those photos (view their Kickstarter).

“We’re just trying to build something creative and easy for people who want to actually hang prints on their wall,” says Alan Yeung, Fotobit’s co-founder.

Using clips, Fotobit’s plastic 4.25” by 4.25” squares — which hold 4” x 4” photos — can be fastened to each other to create any number of geometric patterns.

Yeung came up with the idea because he has thousands of smartphone photos of his two young kids and wanted to hang them on a large blank wall in his house. He says he’s very particular when it comes to design, and needed a creative way to curate the show.

“I had been searching for something out there already that would allow me to display the photos the way I wanted, but I couldn’t find it,” he says.
