Public Gangland Humiliation Carried Out by Chicago Police

Police forces in gang-controlled areas have been rumored to humiliate detainees, by parading them in front of their rivals. A video, posted on YouTube, shows the practice being carried out in Chicago. Court documents state, "Officers Contreras and LaCasa knowingly and intentionally took a very young gang member into a rival gang's territory and allowed him to be threatened." Miguel Castillo is a member of the Imperial Gangster group, and was displayed in front of the Latin Kings. Gang members can certainly be dangerous people. Critics of the police members in this video point out the actions have no bearing on bringing dangerous people into custody. By parading one gang member in front of a rival group, police could be inflaming gang warfare. Additional violence, resulting in deaths and injuries to innocent bystanders, could occur due to the actions of police.
