Slow Internet: U.S. Still Trails in Global Connection Speeds

Meanwhile back in the States, we're still watching our Netflix movies buffer because of connections crawling at an average speed of 10.5 Mbps.

Latvia and Finland are comparative Internet super powers, seeing quarterly performance gains of over 10% -- and landing in the top ten fastest Web browsing countries, along with the Czech Republic, which saw speeds drop nearly 2% in one quarter, but still beat the U.S. to the finish line with an average connection speed of 11.2 Mbps.

The top ten countries with the speediest service are: South Korea (23.6 Mbps), Japan (14.6), Hong Kong (13.3), Switzerland (12.7), Netherlands (12.4), Latvia (12.0), Sweden (11.6), Czech Republic (11.2), Finland (10.7) and Ireland (10.7). The United States placed outside of the top ten, ranking twelfth.
