A scandal laced police department in Florida has been forced to close following an exposed ticket quota scheme and lack of funding. Recently five officers with the Waldo Police Department presented evidence to City Council that indicated Chief Mike Szabo and Cpl. Kenneth Smith were involved in the ticket quota operation. The allegations have sparked two investigations by the Florida Police Department of Law Enforcement Investigation. On Tuesday night, the City Council voted to close the department because they lacked the funds necessary to update their storage facilities and computer systems as recommended by the FPDLE. The officers involved in bringing the allegations to light said they stood by their decisions and were happy to be able to remove bad law enforcement officers.
