I received a letter from my county's health department. It was sent out in an email blitz through the public school system. The letter went on to talk about PODS (Points of Dispensing)that have been created in my county by the Department of Emergency Services. Mainly for me the letter was alerting me that my school districts POD was the high school. The letter states that during a public health emergency, medications will be available at these sites or PODS. These sites will provide the necessary medicines, antibiotics or vaccines to everyone in the community in the event of an emergency requiring a response of the SNS (Strategic National Stockpile program) and will be responsible for dispensing medications and/or vaccines to everyone in a surrounding community with 48 hours. The remainder of the letter was a request for volunteers for these POD sites. People who volunteer are offered to receive appropriate medications for themselves and their family first before the general public so they can rest assured their family is taken care of so they can serve their community.   much more at url
