White House press secretary Josh Earnest stated that Obama wants to establish "common-sense rules" that prevent criminals from getting weapons. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) delayed a ban on 5.56mm M855 "green tip" bullets after public response was overwhelming against the measure.
