Irwin Schiff, RIP
• https://mises.orgIrwin Schiff, imprisoned for his resistance to the federal income tax, died yesterday. Efforts by his son, the noted financial commentator Peter Schiff, to secure his release from prison so that he could die with his family, were unsuccessful. Schiff's sad passing illustrates an essential truth about the state: if you resist its orders, you will be dealt with by force.

$1 million to keep a non violent man in a cage.
I am sorry to hear of Irwin Schiff's death. The state had no greater enemy than Irwin Schiff. And the state punished him by sentencing him to obscurity and silence in a dungeon.
He is--as far as I know--still the only person in the land of the free to have had their book banned for sale within the USA by a federal judge foresworn to protect Schiff's Rights.
Irwin was unafraid and unabashedly uncompromising in his challenges to the thuggish claims of the US government to its residents earnings. One can only hope that there is a special place in heaven for Irwin Schiff, and a special place in hell for his tormentors and in the latter case the sooner they get there the better.
