(NaturalNews) The hapless Transportation Security Administration continues to underwhelm and underperform, but sadly – like virtually every other federal agency ever created – it is here to stay, judging by the non-effort in Congress to do away with it, despite its record of incompetence.

And what a record it is, by the way. According to a recent ABC News exclusive report, an internal investigation by the TSA's own internal investigators, the agency's rank-and-file airport workers failed to find banned weapons and mock explosives 95 percent of the time at the nation's busiest airports.

Members of the Department of Homeland Security's Red Teams posing as passengers set out to beat the passenger inspection system that TSA uses as a screening process. So while agents are feeling up wives, husbands, grandmothers and toddlers, they're failing miserably to find the real potential perpetrators of violence and terrorism.
 

Maybe 'more training' and 'better equipment' will help, huh?

According to officials briefed on the results of a recent Homeland Security Inspector General's report, TSA agents failed 67 out of 70 tests, with Red Team members repeatedly able to get potential weapons through checkpoints.

In one test an undercover agent was stopped after setting off an alarm at a magnetometer, but TSA screeners failed to detect a fake explosive device that was taped to his back during a follow-on pat down.

Never fear, though, America (and visitors from other countries): As reported by The Daily Sheeple, at least TSA screeners managed to confiscate some potentially deadly pimento cheese from CNN on-air personality Campbell Brown recently (see the series of tweets here, with the story).

Because, you know, there is no telling just how many different types of explosives you can make, on the fly in an aircraft, with cheese-and-mayo paste with some pimentos thrown in.

Oh, and as Townhall.com noted, after the damning "95 percent failure rate" report last summer, President Obama was quick to come to the agency's defense, saying he had full confidence in its abilities.

"The President does continue to have confidence that the officers of the TSA do very important work that continues to protect the American people and continue to protect the American aviation system.
