Don't believe me? A few years ago, Al Benson and Donnie Kennedy published a book titled Lincoln's Marxists. A few "reviewers" took offense to such a characterization of St. Abraham the Wise.
One called it "Lost Cause drivel" and another suggested it contained "pro-slavery propaganda." My favorite, though, is the moron who took offense that Benson lumped Marx and Hitler in with Honest Abe. You can't do that. It's heresy.
That is until the Washington Post decided there was something to this Lincoln and Marx thing. If they say it, it has to be true. After all, "Democracy Dies in Darkness."
But in contrast to Kennedy and Benson, the Post considers Lincoln's relationship to Marx to be a good thing.
