The removal of Rep. Liz Cheney from the House Republican leadership, according to Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, would cost the party "quite a few" votes and result in defeats in 2022 midterms and 2024 general elections.

"Expelling Liz Cheney from leadership won't gain the GOP one additional voter," Romney tweeted on Tuesday, May 11.

Romney' made the remarks after he said last week that, "Every person of conscience draws a line beyond which they will not go: Liz Cheney refuses to lie" and "I wouldn't want to be a member of a group that punished someone for following their conscience."
