UPDATE: Suspect Who SHOT Charlie Kirk STILL AT LARGE...

• Gateway Pundit

UPDATE: A report from Deseret News stated that the suspect is not yet in custody. The university had previously announced that a suspect was in custody.

Utah Valley University spokesperson Scott Trotter confirmed in a statement:

"On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 p.m., a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we do not know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating. The campus is closed for the rest of the day."

The New York Times reported that, according to university spokesman Scott Trotter, police later determined that the individual initially taken into custody after the shooting was not the gunman.

Original report: A suspect has been taken into custody after shots were fired at the "American Comeback Tour" event featuring conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

Videos from the scene capture a single gunshot that struck Kirk in the neck as he addressed students under a pop-up tent during a Q&A session.
