"You should stay there (Islamabad), really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we're more inclined to go there," Trump was quoted as saying in an interview with the New York Post.
Lebanon and Israel have held their first diplomatic talks in over three decades, a rare encounter aimed at ending fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
The ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel joined United States-brokered talks in Washington, DC, with Lebanese authorities seeking to secure a ceasefire, while Israel's goal is the disarmament of the Hezbollah armed group.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who mediated, said it was a "historic opportunity" to end Hezbollah's influence.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said the country's top priority was to secure the "dismantling" of Hezbollah in its first direct talks with Lebanon in decades.
"In the negotiations with Lebanon, there are two central objectives: first, the dismantling of Hezbollah; second, a sustainable peace… achieved through strength," he said.
