Trump and Netanyahu Discuss Nonexistent Iranian Threat

by Stephen Lendman

Both leaders are militantly anti-Iran. On Monday, they spoke by phone, discussing nonexistent Iranian "malevolent behavior."

A White House readout said they "discussed the need to counter continuing threats and challenges facing the Middle East region."

The main threat posed by US and Israeli belligerence wasn't explained, the world's leading pariah nations - with plenty of help from rogue states allies.

The phone conversation followed reports of (legitimate) Iranian missile tests last weekend. On Monday, the Pentagon lied, claiming Iranian high-speed vessels harassed a US naval ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Addressing nonexistent Israeli security threats, Netanyahu lied calling Iran "the greatest generator of terrorism in the world in the world and we need to to fight this terror because it is just one arm of Iranian aggression, which also seeks nuclear weapons and advances its ballistic missiles program."

He ranted numerous times this way before, including before the UN General Assembly in New York and at a joint congressional session in Washington.

It's unknown what else he and Trump discussed - perhaps plans for continued regional wars, maybe belligerence against Iran? The bilateral relationship threatens world peace and stability.

On Thursday, Netanyahu will meet with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, reportedly to discuss Iran and Syria. He won't change Russia's position on either country, or any others.

Separately, AIPAC published a timeline of nonexistent "malign (Iranian) behavior" from July 2015 to the present - propaganda, ignoring US and Israeli high crimes. A few examples:

March 4, 2017: Iranian "fast-attack vessels" harassed a "US naval ship in the Strait of Hormuz, forcing it to change course."

False!

February 21: Imam Khamenei called Israel a "cancerous tumor" - supports "eradicat(ing) the Jewish state."

True what he said about Israel, false about wanting it eradicated. Iran rejects war against any nation, is prepared to defend itself if attacked.

February 2: Iran "test-launched a nuclear-capable Suman cruise missile in addition to test-firing a medium-range ballistic missile on Jan. 29."

Fact: Iran has no missiles designed to carry nuclear warheads. Its nuclear program has no military component, verified by the IAEA and annual US intelligence reports.

November 25: Radioactive material allegedly stolen from Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant "prompt(ed) concerns about a dirty bomb in the near future."

Claims about alleged Iranian dirty bombs or other nuclear weapons were long ago discredited.

November 21: "Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi says that the Palestinian territories will be 'freed from Israel's occupation' within a decade."

Humanity hopes he's right!
