Racist Demolition of Palestinian Homes
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)
According to the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, 247 Palestinian structures were destroyed in 2017 alone through June, nearly 49,000 since June 1967 - displacing its residents for exclusive Jewish development and use.
Israel demolishes homes of Palestinians accused of terrorism, most often fabricated charges against innocent victims, other times in response to extreme occupation harshness.
Demolitions collectively punish entire families. They happen with disturbing regularity, one of many examples of Israeli viciousness - flagrant violations of Fourth Geneva's Article 33, prohibiting collective penalties and reprisals against protected persons and their property.
Last month, Israeli forces lethally shot Omer al-Abed after he stabbed to death three Israeli settlers - instead of arresting and prosecuting him. His family had nothing to do with what happened.
Its seven members were collectively punished anyway. On August 16, Israeli forces accompanied a demolition crew. They surrounded the family home, began bulldozing it with its members inside.
Israeli forces attacked Palestinian photojournalist Mohammed Radi covering the demolition, using rubber-coated steel bullets. He was injured requiring hospitalization.
Al-Abed's parents, two brothers, and an uncle were arrested, falsely accused of prior knowledge of the attack - the way racist Israeli injustice works.
In June, Adel Hassan Ahmad Ankoush was one of three Palestinian youths accused of fatally stabbing an Israeli border police commander. They were lethally shot outside Jerusalem's Old City.
Witnesses said uninvolved Palestinians near the incident were assaulted and detained by Israeli forces.
Netanyahu revengefully revoked 250,000 permits issued to Palestinians allowing them to visit relatives in Israel during Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Two Palestinians were wounded by live fire, dozens of others injured by toxic tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets.
On August 17, the Ankoush family home was demolished, blown up by explosives, its six members collectively punished by Israeli viciousness.
A wall of an adjacent home was destroyed. The Abed and Ankoush home demolitions were fifth and six ones in a week - entire families unjustly punished.
Western media ignore the daily horrors Palestinians endure. The World community does nothing to stop them.
America backs them with billions of dollars in annual aid, the latest weapons and technology, along with strong political support - Palestinian rights ignored.
