A memorial for Steve Porak will be held at Calvary Community Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 13th, 2014. The memorial is open to the public, so if you knew Steve and would like to show your support for the family and express your condolences, please feel free to stop by.
Steve was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on Wednesday April 10, 2013 and was told by his Oncologist that he had three to six months to live. Chemotherapy would extend his life for a month or two. Steve turned down Chemotherapy and has opted to do "The Gerson Therapy" which is a natural plant diet. "The Gerson Therapy" has a seventy year history of curing cancer. Chemotherapy guaranteed that Steve would die. "The Gerson Therapy" gave him hope.
Steve was getting better and was breathing well as of last fall. A biopsy was done and things were improving. His wife, Pat (a retired nurse), said the tumors in his soft tissue had shrunk. However, the cancer had metastasized into to his bone (sternum, ribs, spine) presumably after the biopsy and as of last December (2013), Steve was feeling weak and he was in a great amount of pain.
His family came to be around him in his last days until Steve passed away peacefully in his sleep at 3:45 a.m. March 4th, 2014.
We will miss Steve very much, and our prayers and well-wishes go to the family...
