Charges Dropped on Barrow Neurological Institute's Peter Steinmetz, AR-15-Toting Doctor [UPDATE]

Written by Subject: Gun Rights
Quick note:

You heard it first here, this is straight from the horse's mouth:

"No charges have been filed and my two hearings have been vacated."

IMPORTANT: "If you have a right but can't exercise it, then you do not have it."

The video the police issued to the media, surprisingly, showed nothing.
Hmmm.

The original story quoted me, and brought a lot of complaints about what I said; all I did was make neutral comments about the situation:

New Times blog is supposed to comment today, Laurie Roberts is supposed to comment in her column, the TV stations are on it -- reporters got apoplectic over this, their panties in a knot because I wouldn't go along with their preconceived notions.

Peter was represented by Marc Victor.

I'll have more on this soon.

Alan.

I just talked to Marc J. Victor (www.AttorneyForFreedom.com) and he said that no charges have been filed ( but they have 7 years to do so ???). We have a scheduled 3 hour interview with Marc in his office Aug 13th 2014 on this case and others (also his two teenage sons will share their "Devil Pup" Marine Boot Camp experience at Camp Pendleton this month (Marc is a Marine that served during Gulf War I).

This coming Monday there is to be a 3pm Press Conference at Sky Harbor International Airport about this case and the issue of Gun Rights at the Airport. Charges have NOT been filed and the hearings have been vacated.

Subject: AR-15 at Airport Case

Hi all.  As some of you know, I represent Dr. Peter Steinmetz who was arrested and accused of Disorderly Conduct for peacefully carrying his AR-15 at the airport and buying a hot chocolate at Starbucks.  The charges are no longer pending, but could be brought back by the Maricopa County Attorney after they review it more carefully.

This case has received lots of media attention.

We are holding a press conference Monday August 4th at 3pm at my law firm.

Dr. Steinmetz will be making a statement at that time.

I was on 12 News with my friend Mark Curtis discussing the issue last night at 10pm. As always, your comments and thoughts are welcome.

Have a great weekend!
