Does a JFK Moment Await Trump for Pursuing Improved Relations with Russia?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Trump is wrong on most things. He's right saying getting along with Russia and Vladimir Putin personally is a good thing.

His view is in stark contrast to longstanding deep state policy. America needs enemies. None exist so they're invented, Russia threatening no one most of all.

Nearly the entire Congress, Trump regime officials, and US major media are hostile toward the Russian Federation.

Invented enemies are pretexts for America's global empire of bases, countless trillions of dollars spent on militarism and belligerence, along with endless wars of aggression - advancing the nation's imperium their aim.

Wall Street, war-profiteers, and other corporate predators benefit at the expense of world peace and beneficial social change.

Jack Kennedy's transformation from warrior to peacemaker led to his state-sponsored assassination.

Trump is no JFK. He's a warrior president, not a peacemaker. Yet by pursuing improved relations with Russia and Vladimir Putin, long knives could end his tenure the same way.

Or perhaps the Nixon option or impeachment and removal from office could await him - eliminating him as a deep state threat, replacing him with an easily controlled alternative.

Are dark forces in America plotting Trump's removal? Is his fate already sealed? Anyone of significant prominence, diverging from longstanding US domestic and/or geopolitical policy risks assassination or elimination another way.

The so-called land of the free and home of the brave is ruthless. America is beautiful only for its privileged few. Outliers in it are scorned or worse.

Trump diverged markedly from official US policy by holding summit talks with Putin in Helsinki - seeking improved relations with Russia.

Mass congressional and media hysteria followed, Trump accused of colluding with the enemy, some critics calling the summit treasonous, urging his impeachment and removal from office.

On Wednesday, Trump called summit talks with Putin "a great success," tweeting: "I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed…'

On Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted the following:

"In Helsinki, @POTUS agreed to ongoing working level dialogue between the two security council staffs."

"President Trump asked @Ambjohnbolton to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those discussions are already underway" for a fall meeting.

According to the State Department, Putin visited America several times earlier since 2000.

In November 2001, he met with GW Bush in Crawford, TX, then Ground Zero in NYC. In September 2003, he held talks with GW Bush at Camp David.

In June 2004, he attended the Sea Island, GA G-8 economic summit. In July 2007, he met with GW Bush in Kennebunkport, ME, GHW Bush's summer residence.

In September 2015, he attended the UN General Assembly session in NYC, meeting with Obama at the time on its sidelines.

Indicting 12 Russian nationals on fabricated charges of meddling in America's political process, along with arresting and falsely charging Russian national Mariia Butina with "conspiracy to act as a Russian agent within the United States without prior notification to the Attorney General" are clear deep state attempts to undermine improved US relations with Russia.

If Trump continues pursuing this objective, will his tenure in office be threatened? Will he be targeted for removal by assassination, impeachment, or the Nixon option?

Wanting to get along with Vladimir Putin makes him an enemy of the deep state.

His tenure in office and life are threatened for wanting to do the right thing - despite serving powerful US monied interests in most all other ways.
