277 SIG Fury Trajectory Chart

A bullet's trajectory is its flight path. Shooters measure trajectory in inches of bullet drop, milliradians (MIL), or minute of angle (MOA).

A flatter trajectory is preferred for long-range shooting because it requires the shooter to make fewer adjustments to compensate for bullet drop. The 277 SIG Fury is a great choice for long-distance hunting and shooting because of its flat trajectory. When zeroed in at 200 yards, a 150 grain bullet will only drop about ~37" at 500 yards.

277 SIG Fury Velocity

Muzzle velocity is the rate at which a bullet exits the barrel, measured in feet per second (fps). Typically, a longer barrel produces a higher muzzle velocity, as the extra length gives exploding propellant more time to exert its energy against the base of the projectile.

We can expect 277 Fury muzzle velocities to vary about 300 fps, depending on bullet weight and barrel length. The 277 Fury's high muzzle velocities contribute to its flat trajectory and high striking energy.

277 SIG Fury Kinetic Energy

Muzzle energy is the amount of force a bullet possesses the moment it leaves the barrel, measured in foot-pounds (ft-lbs). Heavier bullets tend to have higher muzzle energy, but lower velocity.

A 155 grain 277 SIG Fury bullet gains 3,090 ft-lbs of muzzle energy and conserves 1,657 ft-lbs at 500 yards. 277 SIG Fury bullets conserve energy very well, which is another reason why they're a good choice for hunting.

277 SIG Fury Effective Range

The 277 Fury has an effective range of ~800 yards for big game hunting and ~1,200 yards for target shooting. The 277 Fury's flat trajectory and excellent kinetic energy conservation are why its effective range extends much farther than the 5.56 NATO's, which the 277 Fury was designed to replace on the battlefield.
