Actually the case came down to bullet holes in the backside of an unarmed man being chased by rogue Border Patrol agents with a mentality of shoot first and ask questions later. How do I know he was unarmed? Because Ramos and Compean would certainly have entered the man's weapon or bullet casings into the evidentiary record if they had ever existed.

Did Sutton screw up with the free border pass for the witness who turned out to be a smuggler. Definitely, but Ramos and Compean didn't know the fleeing man was a smuggler at the time they shot him (it wouldn't have made any difference anyway) and Sutton's kid gloves treatment of the witnesses doesn't change the facts of the case.

Federal agents shot an unarmed man in the back who posed no immediate risk to the safety of the officers or the public.

Ramos and Compean deserve to be exactly where they are right now unless you're an advocate for field agents being judge, jury and executioner all rolled into one.
