I have been ranting about the big fall now for months and I predicted this will happen this July or August. If you can You better have at least half of what this article has listed. In fact you should already have at least half of what Is mentioned above. Most of the people I spend time with have more than we can carry, you can see where I'm going with this right !!

Let's see what I DON'T have from this list.

-Gas. I don't store gas. I have a bicycle. That's my fallback transportation unless I find a saddle small enough for my dog.

-Compass. Used to do orienteering as a kid but I don't even had topo maps for my area. Without maps the compass just tells you directions and if you can't figure out the cardinal directions in Arizona (always sunny) you are in big trouble.

The list left off a water filtration device. Doesn't have to be fancy. Those Brita pitcher style filters are fine because they weight nothing and they can be packed with other stuff inside to save space in your backpack.

You in Phonenix might consider high-tailing it to Prescott in the event of sudden disaster. Maybe something like the following scenario:

1.If you can get on I-17 quick enough, get on it and pour on the steam.

2. The backup plan to this is a rally point in North Phoenix, right on the edge of the desert. Maybe someplace around Lake Pleasant. Everybody jumps into whatever 4-wheelers are available with all the supplies you can carry.

3. You take the back way into Prescott. Then not only can you take your sweet time, you'd have to. Rush that route and not all the vehicles will make it.

4. Get in touch with me/Prescott resources so we can start assistance down to meet you and figure out how to smuggle us all back into Prescott.

What I imagine in that event is Prescott will be closed up tight as a drum. Only 4 roads into town really. We could just as easily close off all of Prescott Valley, Prescott and Chino Valley.

Now if Palo Alto goes we'll ALL be headed East. I don't like that scenario for any of us.

Somebody (open call, I can do it myself but....) because this methodology has a hole in it.

Backpacks and canteens means you are on the run. Bugout time. You can only carry so much food and water. And this scenario is limited to the overnight-disater scenario, a Katrina-like scenario; you go to sleep in a normal world, you wake up to chaos.

Economics likely won't crash overnight so we'll face a very long, drawn out period that's likely to exhaust our resources before any cataclysmic event. There have to be intermediary steps.

I really think the best intermediary (besides consolodating with friends/relatives) is a camper trailer. Get one used. Now you have a home on wheels.
