In a similar way our government doesn't allow us to get back to freedom, and private property, and truth about what government is doing, and election reform, and honesty among law enforcement, and money that has intrinsic value, no taxation without real representation, and hundreds of other things... even though the Constitutions and basic, foundational laws say these things should be ours.
