What is 'supposed to be' and what is reality is quite different.  America long ago demonstrated that laws are for herding and controling the sheep, and Power - Influence - Money are the true rulers of America. 

Those in power craft the laws, and obey or ignore them, as fit their needs while the sheep are held to rigid obedience to them.

 I would think that only seeing things that really exist would be a "natural law". I've been around for 59+ years and I've yet to see a "nation".
