Uhhhhhhhhhhh al-Qaeda are the "rebels" so how can they seize something from themselves. The propagada has begun to spin the two as different.  

Al-Qaeda was working for the U.S. for a while. Then the U.S. started supporting the Rebels. Al-Qaeda became jealous that the U.S. started giving preference to the Rebels, a group who Al-Qaeda isn't fond of in the first place, because they were in some positions that were difficult for even Al-Qaeda to reach. So, it's like a couple of women fighting over a man.

Actually, its two factions of the CIA trying to out-do each other. CIA covertness inside the U.S. is so good that you almost never hear about it in this way when it happens over here.
