Roscoe Bartlett has among his notable ancestors, one Josiah Bartlett, signer of the Declaration.  My wife Liz has Josiah Bartlett among her ancestors, as well (via her mom).  Roscoe Bartlett was also proud ally of Gun Owners of America; one of the better 2A organizations.

Proverbs 29:25 (NIV 1984):"Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe."

What was the first sin? You know, the one that Adam and Eve did in the Garden? Was it eating the fruit of the tree? Or was it not trusting in God to provide whatever they needed and wanted, especially in the face of God's command to NOT eat the fruit? Prepping is great! But when the "they" of this life come for you, are you ever prepped enough?

Consider a person who has been fatally shot, but doesn't die for several hours. And consider one such person who is conscious and awake most of that final time. As the person nears death, and the body starts to shut down, there is often a growing cold, a numbing of the extremities. In the final moments there may be great clarity of thinking as the brain makes its last great mental surge to find some way out of the dilemma of death. Old age is something like this. Only, it may take a bit longer.

There is a saying, "Nobody gets out of life alive." So, what good is all the prepping? Perhaps it extends better living conditions for awhile. Perhaps it even extends life for a time. Prepping is for the living, for your family and friends, for principles, but it ISN'T for the LOOOONG TERM.

"Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe." The safety? Trust in the Lord keeps one safe for eternity, for an eternal life with the Lord. Fill up on the Bible to find out how it works. This is true prepping... prepping by trusting in the Lord, and then prepping in this life BECAUSE OF trusting in the Lord.
