From the article: "Police have been urging lawmakers in Boston to restore a provision to a gun bill allowing them to deny someone a license to own a rifle or shotgun even if the person passes a background check."

As has been said before, laws don't give rights to people. Laws don't take rights away from people. Laws only give law enforcement the privilege (duty?) to treat people as though they don't have any rights.

Get rid of all the laws. Base judgments on harm of other people or damage of their property... and in some cases, on non-fulfillment of contractual obligations. Make the punishment match the "crime," plus extra for loss of time.

That's it, period. The monetary savings in time and money for cities would be tremendous. People would be free. Justice would be served.
