This could go two ways. New Yorkers start taking responsibility for their own security and don't need the NYPD or.....New Yorkers don't take responsibility for their own security and violent crime goes up. Remember in Alcapolco the police went on strike, the city locked them out, and commerce went up and harrasement by police stopped. Now the people of Acaploco don't want them back. I wonder if the same thing could happen in New York (probably not because the moral fiber of the population was never developed and they live in a media phantasy, but who knows, maybe they'll awaken to life's realities and shut their public police department down!)

And if police departments became admin agencies instead of "Law Enforcement Departments," cop assults would just stop. They'd be assaulted as often as any other civil servants at city hall are assaulted. Better to let violent suppression forces be private security firms hired by households and beholden to the same for their continued services and paychecks.
