As Dave notes, this seems improbable as the insurgents are Sunnis. And supplying weapons that could be traced to Iran would more likely be a CIA false flag operation, or more likely entirely made up by the Iran Study Group by whatever name, to give pretext for war.

Still, if I were very clever Iranian wanting to cause mischief ... but they still would not be traceable back to Iran.
