I know it's a popular show, but I immediately lost interest the moment it was obvious that the generated circumstances were used to justify constitutional violations 'for the greater good'. This is why even the Republican Presidential Debates had candidates using this show to justify torture.
Dire situations can present individuals with very hard choices,... choices that should be defended in public and judged. But secret choices, or choices without even an airing or a threat of consequences has brought us to where we are now.
What's worse is that torture is now simply 'policy'... waaaay too dangerous for me to advocate in any situation.
Even the great 'supporter of the State' Tom Clancy made it clear in "Executive Orders" that such decisions by the then President (Jack Ryan) had to answer for what he had ordered and Ryan was prepared to do just that,... but then that was fantasy, huh?
