Swimming Bans High-Tech Suits, Ending an Era

• NY Times

It appears the FINA officials are saying that swimmers should not be allowed to wear the high-tech suits because swimming athletes should compete based upon only their skills and conditioning. If this is the case, then they should ban ALL swimming suits, since this would be the ONLY way to assure that the suit has NO effect, positive or negative, on the athletes' performances. Having nude swimming contests would probably attract bigger crowds of spectators, too, and that would be doing something good for the sport, which is what they say the objectives of their regulations are.
