Trial dates have been set for two local police chiefs charged in connection with a celebrity surrogate scandal.

Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack appeared in a Belmont County court Friday for a status hearing. Carpenter's trial was set for Nov. 16 and Dojack's trial was set for Jan. 12.

Police said the men conspired to sell items to a tabloid photographer from a woman's Martins Ferry home. At the time, the woman was the surrogate mother for actress Sarah Jessica Parker and actor Matthew Broderick's twin daughters.
