Bell, California City Officials Bilk Taxpayers $5.5M in Inflated Salaries, 8 Arrested

Eight current and former officials in the blue-collar city of Bell, including the former city manager and mayor, were arrested Tuesday and charged in a corruption investigation into bloated salaries and misuse of taxpayer funds. … District Attorney Steve Cooley filed charges against the eight officials, alleging that they misappropriated $5.5 million in public funds. Rizzo has been charged with 53 counts of misappropriation of public funds and conflict of interest, The Los Angeles Times reported.
