The U.S. Homeland Security chief will urge 190
nations today to improve aviation security with body scanners and other
innovations to stop terrorists from carrying plastic and powdered
explosives onto airplanes.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano
said the push aims to counter terrorists who might use international
flights for attacks by smuggling explosives through overseas metal
detectors.
