Study: Worldwide 1 in 4 pay bribes

A new eye-opening report from Transparency International lends credence to organizations that have been charging many countries with an underlying foundation of corruption. Entities that exist on bribes as motivation inhibit progress, free trade and even individual liberties. Nine institutions were identified by the 2010 Global Corruption Barometer as being the most likely recipients of bribes including such major sectors as education, health care facilities, tax authorities and police forces. Of all, the study found, it is police organizations that are the most corrupt: almost a third of respondents having interaction with police at any level admitted that during the course of their dealing with law enforcement officers money exchanged hands...
