Chinese blogger angered over losing Facebook account

• AP

Chinese blogger and activist Michael Anti wants to know why he is less worthy of a Facebook account than company founder Mark Zuckerberg's dog.

Anti, a popular online commentator whose legal name is Zhao Jing, said in an interview Tuesday that his Facebook account was suddenly canceled in January. Company officials told him by e-mail that Facebook has a strict policy against pseudonyms and that he must use the name issued on his government ID.

Yet another case of Facebook showing its Beast side. With a goal of nothing less than swallowing the Internet inside its dark rabbit hole, where urls are kaput and they own all your data, they insist you provide as much personal information as possible to even keep your account. This is even when using your real name can get you killed, as with Chinese dissidents. Why don't they let you create an alias for other FB users to shield your identity? Because they're too busy trying to own you and get you set up for ads.

The only answer to horrible Facebook is for the world to start over in the social networking arena, starting by deleting your account and boycotting it. New alternatives are spring up, including Diaspora, who why leave your FB account in existence? Not that they will not keep all the data you already gave them - you were a zucker from the start.
