WATCH LIVE: Obama to Rally Troops at Ft. Campbell
• www.c-span.orgPresident Obama travels to Ft. Campbell, KY to meet with members of the U.S. Navy SEALs who carried out the mission against al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. According to a White House official, "President Obama and Vice President Biden will have the opportunity to hear from and thank some of the special operators involved in the operation."
Ft. Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division and a staging base for troops ready to be deployed and those returning from deployment, including Special Forces and Navy SEAL units.
The President's latest stop comes after he traveled to New York City Thursday to visit one of the sites of the 9/11 attacks. He laid a wreath at the Ground Zero memorial and offered firefighters stationed at the “Pride of Midtown” Firehouse words of encouragement: "When we say we will never forget, we mean what we say." Acknowledging the human loss caused by the attacks, he added, "Obviously you can't bring back the friends you lost."
Earlier this week, President Obama decided not to release the photos of Osama bin Laden's dead body. He said the negatives outweighed the benefits. They could incite violence or be used as a propaganda tool, he said.
