The marketers of the The Undefeated, Steve Bannon's Palin documentary, announce with some pride that the movie's going to launch "exclusively at select AMC theaters." No repeat of the Atlas Shrugged debacle of paying theaters to please, please, take it. From the announcement:

The film will launch in markets such as Dallas, Denver, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Atlanta, Orange County, Phoenix, Houston, Indianapolis, and Kansas City.

In other words, red America. Bannon's directed four other documentaries, all of them about topics that interest conservatives, but never had a distribution like this. Hillary: The Movie, the Citizens United production (the impetus for the Supreme Court case that has erased most of the FEC problems around releasing a movie about a potential candidate), never got real distribution. Bannon et al are going for a Fahrenheit 9/11-style mass success, which conservatives haven't pulled off before.
