Pentagon approves of charges against Gitmo prisoners for 9/11

The Department of Defense approved of charges Wednesday against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay prisoners for their involvement in the September 11 attacks.

In a statement released by the department, Mohammed has been charged along with Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi.

All five members are charged with terrorism, hijacking aircraft, conspiracy, murder in violation of the law of war, attacking civilians, attacking civilian objects, intentionally causing serious bodily injury, and destruction of property in violation of the law of war. Each person will be sentenced to death if convicted of the charges.
