Worker’s Comp. Covers Medical Marijuana in New Mexico

• thelibertybeat.com

New Mexico is the latest state to treat marijuana as a medicine under worker’s compensation rights.

A worker suffering from 99 percent permanent partial disability had their request approved for the worker’s compensation to cover medical marijuana as part of their treatment, reported KOAT-TV.

The New Mexico Court of Appeals ruled Monday in favor of the disabled worker, ordering the worker’s employer, an automotive repair shop, to reimburse them for medical marijuana expenses.

The automotive shop initially appealed the decision, which was upheld Monday by a worker’s compensation judge.
