U.S. GMO Crop Companies Double Down on Anti-labeling Efforts

Biotech companies Monsanto, Dow Chemical, DuPont and others, have spent more than $80 million since 2012 towards fighting mandatory labeling of genetically modified (GM) foods, according to a report issued by the Environmental Working Group on Tuesday. Part of their campaign includes the launch of an interactive website, called GMO answers, a broad effort to win over consumers. Scott Faber, executive director of Just Label It, which supports mandatory GMO food labeling, said the industry is losing. "After this explosion of anti-GMO labeling lobbying, they have so little to show for their efforts," he added.
